Australia deports Czech tennis player due to visa issue - report

Czech tennis player Renata Voracova (pictured) has been deported from Australia after failing to honor that country's requirement that all foreigners that try to enter it must be vaccinated against COVID-19, the Australian Broadcasting Corporation (ABC) reported on Saturday.

Voracova seemingly arrived in Australia with an exemption that allowed her to enter the country in spite of her not having received the vaccine. The Australian Border Force (ABF) later canceled her visa and detained her at the Park Hotel in Melbourne, where World No. 1 men's tennis Novak Djokovic is also being held at the moment. Later, the Czech Foreign Ministry said Voracova decided to leave the country herself.

The controversy over tennis players' arrival in Australia erupted after Djokovic was initially granted entry with the so-called vaccine exemption permission. However, when he landed, the ABF questioned the veracity of the evidence he presented to gain such a permit. The final decision on Djokovic's status will be made on Monday. Meanwhile, the player's lawyers presented the court with a document that claims he tested positive for COVID-19 in December.
