No. 10 apologizes to HM for two lockdown parties

British Prime Minister Boris Johnson's office apologized on Friday to Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II for two parties held at 10 Downing Street during the nationwide lockdown imposed to curb the spread of COVID-19, one of which took place the evening before the funeral of her husband, Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh.

"It is deeply regrettable that this took place at a time of national mourning, and Number 10 has apologized to the Palace," Johnson's spokesperson said. "You heard from the prime minister this week, he's recognized No. 10 should be held to the highest standards and take responsibility for things we did not get right."

Earlier this week, Johnson apologized for the party that was held at No. 10 during the lockdown, on May 20, 2020. Meanwhile, The Telegraph reported that another such gathering took place on April 16, 2021, the evening before Prince Philip's funeral.
