US markets extend slump, Dow opens 400 pts lower

After the previous week with losses and the worst for the S&P 500 since March 2020, Wall Street opened lower on Monday. Among the highlights for today, news about the situation in Ukraine and the prospect of a Russian attack continues flowing in. This week another pivotal factor for the market will be the Federal Reserve's monetary policy meeting. Today, the January report on services and manufacturing activity is expected, and IBM will release its results.

The Dow Jones lost 1.44%, or 494 points at 9:31 am ET, with Walt Disney down by 6.94%. The Nasdaq 100 fell 1.81%, while Tesla decreased by 5.18%, and the S&P 500 declined 1.65%. The euro was down by 0.39% against the dollar at 9:28 am ET, selling for $1.12972.
