Tai, Sullivan had a fallout about China last year - report

United States Trade Representative Katherine Tai and National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan had a confrontation about China policy in front of other White House staff in September 2021, Axios reported on Sunday.

Tai alleged that Sullivan and his office were undermining her work in the press, namely in media reports about US investigations into Chinese industrial subsidies that could have resulted in additional sanctions against the People's Republic, according to unnamed sources familiar with the matter. The media outlet claims that the conflict shows that some views about the White House's strategy when it comes to China differ in President Joe Biden's trade and national security teams.

Both Tai and Sullivan did not directly dismiss that the incident took place in separate statements to Axios.
