Eurozone's unemployment rate down to 7% in December
The seasonally adjusted unemployment rate in the Eurozone (EA19) came in at 7.0% in December, observing only a slight decline in comparison to 7.1% recorded the month before and 8.2% for the corresponding period of 2020, Eurostat revealed in its report published on Tuesday.
In the European Union (EU27) alone, the December rate landed at 6.4%, down from 6.5% in November 2021 and from 7.5% in December 2020. Youth unemployment in the euro area also fell to 14.9% from 15.4% recorded in November.
Among the countries comprising the union, unemployment in December remained highest in Spain and Greece, while the lowest figures were registered in the Czech Republic and Poland.
