German factory orders up 2.8% in December

Seasonally and price-adjusted new factory orders in Germany jumped 2.8% in December compared to the previous month, the country's Federal Statistical Office Destatis said in a report published on Friday. New orders increased 5.5% year-over-year.

On a monthly basis, foreign orders went down 3.0%, while domestic orders improved 11.7% in December. Orders from the euro area dropped by 4.2%, while orders from other countries declined by 2.3% compared to November.

Orders of consumer goods grew 5.3% month on month while orders of intermediate and capital goods rose 4.1% and 1.8%, respectively, in November and compared to the month prior, according to the report.
