Xi invited to Saudi Arabia - report

Saudi Arabia extended an invitation to Chinese President Xi Jinping to visit Riyadh this spring, The Wall Street Journal reported on Monday, citing unnamed insiders with knowledge of the plans.

A Saudi official described the country's Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman and the Chinese leader as "close friends" who "both understand that there is huge potential for stronger ties" beyond cooperation on oil and weapons. It was reported last month that Saudi Aramco has restarted talks about a $10 billion project in China.

Recently, the Saudi crown prince told US media that Washington has no "right to interfere in our interior issues," and that he doesn't "care" what US President Joe Biden thinks of him.
