US opens lower ahead of data

Major stock markets in the United States opened lower on Wednesday ahead of the newest reports on the country's new home sales and stocks of crude oil. Earlier, Federal Reserve Chair Jerome Powell pointed out the central bank's current regulation is not adequate for the market impacted by digital currencies.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average traded 0.49% or 170 points lower at the opening as Salesforce.com Inc. declined by 2.69%. The Nasdaq 100 fell by 0.90% or 131 points, and the S&P 500 declined by 0.55%. Adobe Inc. was the worst performer on both of the latter two indexes, plunging by 6.99%.

The euro lost 0.51% to the dollar at 9:29 am ET to sell for $1.09742.
