US opens lower after GDP, employment reports

Major US stock markets opened lower on Wednesday amid the repercussions of the ceasefire talks between Russia and Ukraine and the release of new reports.

On the economic front, the GDP in the United States increased by 6.9% in the fourth quarter of 2021, a figure below the estimated 7%. Meanwhile, the ADP National Employment said the number of jobs in the private sector in the United States grew by 455,000 in March.

The Dow Jones lost 0.16% at 9:31 am ET, with The Home Depot Inc down by 2.03%. The Nasdaq 100 fell 0.45%, while DocuSign decreased by 2.85%. The S&P 500 declined 0.21% as Mohawk Industries Inc fell 5.70%. The euro improved by 0.49% against the dollar at 9:28 am ET, selling for $1.11407.
