Europe closes higher despite data reports

Major stock indexes in Europe closed higher on Friday despite underwhelming data reports. The preliminary report published by Eurostat revealed that the inflation in the Eurozone jumped to a record 7.5% in March, while the manufacturing activity across the euro area recorded a 14-month low, declining to 56.5.

The DAX added 0.22% at the closing bell, with Delivery Hero leading the gains, stocks of which surged 4.89%. At the same time, London's FTSE 100 increased by 0.30% as Reckitt Benckiser jumped 3.05%. The CAC 40 was up 0.37%, with TotalEnergies up 1.74%.

The euro lost 0.24% against the dollar at 5:31 pm CET, selling for $1.10401. The pound fell 0.25% against the greenback to go for $1.31070 a minute later.
