Europe turns to losses at close in volatile session

Shares on the major stock market indices in Europe traded in the red as the session ended on Thursday, as the markets seemingly mirrored volatile movements seen in the United States.

The Russia-West rift was in the investors' focus, as well as the latest input from US Federal Reserve's branch directors.

The DAX slipped 0.52% at the close, with Delivery Hero tumbling 5.16%. The CAC 40 dipped 0.56% at the same time, as Alstom plunged 2.67%. The FTSE 100 lost 0.47% as the session ended. Aviva, the benchmark's worst performer for the day, dove 4.91%. The euro stood flat versus the dollar at 5:33 pm CET, selling for 1.08997, with the pound also little-changed versus the greenback at the same time, changing hands at 1.30592.
