Europe falls at open amid earnings, data

European markets opened lower on Friday as investors focused on economic data and earnings releases. SAP and Renault were among the companies that reported results before the bell. On the data front, UK retail sales were reported to have fallen 1.4% in March, while PMI data from the UK and the Eurozone is scheduled for release later today.

The FTSE 100 fell 1.03% at 9:00 am CET. The worst performer was Burberry, down 3.05% at 9:00 am CET.

The DAX dropped 1.20% at 9:02 am CET. Covestro led the losses as its shares tumbled 6.73% at 9:04 am CET.

The CAC 40 slid 1.44% at 9:04 am CET with EssilorLuxottica falling 3.06% at 9:02 am CET.

The euro lost 0.07% against the dollar to sell for 1.08260 at 9:01 am CET and the pound declined 0.57% compared to the greenback to go for 1.29512 at 9:02 am CET.
