Slovakia wants three-year transition for Russian oil

Slovakian Economy Minister Richard Sulik stated on Wednesday that Slovakia supports sanctions the European Union wants to impose on Russian oil, but that it wants a transition period of three years. He added that the EU has agreed to a transition period in principle, but that its length is still being discussed.

Sulik also claimed Czechia wants a transition period, while Hungary opposed the oil embargo altogether. Earlier today, European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen stated the latest sanctions package aims to phase out Russian crude oil important within 6 months.
