Dow opens 200 pts lower after nonfarm payrolls report
Major stock markets in the United States opened lower on Friday after failing to fully recover from the significant losses they recorded the day before. Meanwhile, the newest report on nonfarm payrolls in the country showed no change in the nation's unemployment rate in comparison to the previous update. Later, President Joe Biden will give a speech and urge Congress to pass the Bipartisan Innovation Act, among other proposals.
The Dow Jones Industrial Average went down by 0.62% or 205 points at the opening as Nike Inc. sank by 3.97%. The Nasdaq 100 declined by 0.66%, with Illumina Inc. plummeting by 11.81%. The S&P 500 decreased by 0.53% as Under Armour Inc. plunged by 21.22%.
The euro gained 0.39% to the dollar at 9:29 am ET to sell for $1.05824.
