US closes lower upon Yellen inflation remarks

Stock indexes in the United States traded with negative results at Thursday's closing bell, as US Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen stated that the inflation levels in the country are "the number one economic issue" that the current government faces.

Furthermore, the US Senate voted 80-19 in favor of granting Federal Reserve Chair Jerome Powell another four-year term at the central bank's driving seat.

The Dow Jones was down 0.33% or 104 points at the close, with Boeing Co declining 4.83%, while the Nasdaq 100 slid by 0.18%, with its worst performer, Constellation Energy Corp, going down 6.80%. Furthermore, the S&P 500 lost 0.13% at the same time, also dragged down by Constellation Energy Corp's decrease. The euro weakened 1.31% against the dollar to sell for 1.03756 at 4:06 pm ET.
