European markets end mostly lower

Major stock markets across Europe ended Monday's session in a mixed state as investors continued to closely follow the latest developments in the Ukraine crisis. The latest news confirmed Sweden and Finland would officially apply to join NATO this week.

As the European Central Bank looked toward adjusting its key interest rates at the upcoming meeting next month, the French Cabinet has gone through an overhaul ahead of parliamentary elections in June.

The DAX lost 0.45% at the close, while the CAC 40 fell by 0.23%. On the other hand, the FTSE 100 rose 0.63% at the closing bell. The euro stood flat against the dollar at 1.04050, while the pound slid 0.13% to $1.22457 at 5:33 pm CET.
