Erdogan against Sweden, Finland joining NATO

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said he wouldn't support Sweden's and Finland's intentions to join the North Atlantic Treaty Organization due to their "unclear" stance against terrorism. Sweden is a "nestling ground" for terrorists, Erdogan argued.

The Turkish president also noted that Swedish and Finnish foreign ministers "shouldn't bother" traveling to Turkey in an effort to convince Ankara to approve their bids to join the alliance. Sweden and Finland confirmed earlier today they would officially apply to join NATO this week.
