Europe opens higher amid employment data

Major European stock market indexes traded higher at the open on Tuesday amid reports on employment. The United Kingdom's (UK) unemployment rate stood at 3.7% in the first quarter of 2022, declining 0.3 percentage points from the previous quarter. The report on the European Union employment change will be released later in the day.

The DAX rose 0.80% at the opening bell, with Delivery Hero surging 3.81% at 9:03 am CET. The CAC 40 was up 0.60% at 9:02 am CET, with Engie skyrocketing 6.40% at the same time. The FTSE 100 gained 0.13% at the open, as Phoenix Holding jumped 0.88% at 9:01 am CET.

The euro traded 0.24% higher against the dollar at 8:59 am CET, selling for 1.04577. The pound gained 0.54% versus the greenback, going for 1.23855 at the same time.
