India relaxes rules on wheat export ban

The Indian government decided on Tuesday to ease some of its wheat export ban rules, after previously banning most wheat and onion seed exports due to a "sudden spike in the global prices of wheat arising out of many factors."

The Ministry of Commerce and Industry stated that the deliveries of wheat, which were previously registered with the customs before the ban was announced, would be allowed for export. The ban, which was put into force earlier in May, aims to guarantee the country's food security and check inflation, as the conflict in Ukraine continues to affect the global economy and food markets.
