Asian stocks mostly higher after Japan data

Shares in the Asia-Pacific region traded mostly with gains on Wednesday after two data reports showed that Japan's economy shrank by 1% in the year's first quarter, while its industrial output grew by 0.3% month-over-month in March.

Australia introduced additional sanctions against Russia and Belarus.

Japan's Nikkei 225 jumped 0.73% at 07:16 am CET, while South Korea's Kospi added 0.17% at the same time. Hong Kong's Hang Seng concurrently slid 0.28%. In China, the Shanghai Composite was down by 0.35% at 7:02 am CET, while the Shenzhen Composite rose 0.1%. Australia's S&P/ASX 200 increased by 0.86% at 7:18 am CET.

The dollar traded 0.14% lower against the Japanese yen, selling for 129.2005 at 7:19 am CET.
