EIA: US crude inventories down by 3.4 million barrels

Commercial crude oil inventories in the United States decreased by 3.4 million barrels to 420.8 million barrels in the week ending May 13, the Energy Information Administration (EIA) said in its report published on Wednesday.

Crude oil refinery inputs averaged 15.9 million barrels per day, and were up by 239,000 barrels per day compared to the previous week. Refineries operated at 91.8% of their capacity. Gasoline production declined to average 9.6 million barrels per day.

Crude oil imports averaged 6.6 million barrels per day, 299,000 barrels per day more compared to the previous week. Total commercial petroleum inventories fell by 2.9 million barrels in the same period.
