Europe opens lower on inflation concerns

Major European stock market indexes traded lower at the open on Thursday, following Wall Street’s sell-off from yesterday, as investors are seemingly showing rising concerns over recent inflation reports in Europe.

The DAX tumbled 1.35% or 188 points at the opening bell, as Deutsche Boerse plunged 2.82% at 9:01 am CET. The CAC 40 fell 1.17% at 9:02 am CET, with Essilorluxottica decreasing 1.81% at the same time. The FTSE 100 was down 0.78% at the open, as Ocado Group declined 1.72% at 9:01 am CET.

The euro gained 0.09% against the dollar at 8:59 am CET, selling for 1.04817. The pound added 0.08% versus the greenback, going for 1.23496 at the same time.
