Tech antitrust bill up for Senate vote by summer - report

The bipartisan American Innovation and Choice Online Act could be voted on by the United States Senate by the summer, Axios reported on Thursday, citing a source from the Democratic Party.

Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer had met with Senator Amy Klobuchar, who authored the bill, to express his support for the antitrust law while pressuring Klobuchar to submit an amended version of her bill as soon as possible, according to the report.

Under the proposed legislation, Google LLC, Apple Inc., Amazon.com Inc., and Meta Platforms Inc. would not be able to use anti-competitive practices when marketing their own services. The law would then have to pass the House of Representatives, where it would be accompanied by a "companion bill."
