US shares open higher, head for weekly losses

Shares on the major stock market indices in the United States traded with gains at the open on Friday, but still remained on route to weekly losses, with the sentiment mostly driven by inflation fears and geopolitical concerns.

Russia's Defense Minister Sergey Shoygu stated that the threats in the western part of the country have intensified, while the country's president, Vladimir Putin, warned of an alleged cyberspace war that has been launched against Russia.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average added 0.67% or 200 points as the session started with Cisco adding 2.68%. The Nasdaq 100 rose by 1.38% at the open as Palo Alto soared 11.16% a minute later. The S&P 500 started the session 0.87% in the green with Match Group flying 4.93% a minute into the session.

The euro slipped 0.19% versus the dollar at 9:29 am ET, selling for 1.05632.
