Biden, Kishida agree on nuclear weapon-free world

Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida agreed with the United States President Joe Biden the two countries will focus on establishing a world that is "free of nuclear weapons," the prime minister noted on Monday.

During the joint press conference, Kishida warned that nuclear weapons threats are becoming more "severe," while underscoring the significance of "peace and stability" in the Taiwan Strait. In addition to this, the prime minister stated both Tokyo and Washington are concerned about developments in the East and South China Seas, as well as human rights violations in China as a result of the coronavirus lockdowns.

The two leaders stated their commitment to working together to counter China's expanding power in Asia, with the US supporting Japan's bid to join the United Nations Security Council as a permanent member.
