US lower premarket, Dow falls more than 250 points

Stock indexes in the United States traded with losses in the premarket on Tuesday following Monday's rally. The Dow Jones dropped over 250 points after surging over the 600-point mark in the previous session. Fed Chair Jerome Powell was sworn in for a second term and is expected to speak later in the day. In data, reports on the state of the private sector in May and April's new home sales are coming up after the opening bell.

The Dow Jones plunged 0.84% or 266 points at 4:26 am ET as the Nasdaq 100 sank 1.91% or 231 points, and the S&P 500 lost 1.32% at the same time.

The euro traded 0.21% higher against the dollar, going for 1.07128 at 4:27 am ET.
