EU aims to reach deal with Poland on corporate tax by June 17

French Finance Minister Bruno Le Maire said on Tuesday that the European Union intends to reach an agreement with Poland on global corporate tax by the next finance ministers' meeting on June 17. In April, Poland vetoed the EU directive on the minimum 15% tax rate advocated by a number of world leaders, including United States President Joe Biden.

Le Maire, representing France's EU Council presidency, stated the EU is "not far from finding the right way to get consensus" with Poland on the issue. He added the EU will "spare no effort" in convincing international partners to join the initiative, predicting it could be reached by the end of 2023 or the beginning of 2024.
