Wall Street sinks at open ahead of PMI data

Major stock markets on Wall Street opened Tuesday's session with losses as the war in Ukraine continued to prompt uncertainties for both investors and the Federal Reserve.

Markets are expecting the latest report on the state of the American economy later today, while recently sworn in Fed Chair Jerome Powell will make his first official address.

The Dow Jones plunged 0.46% or 148 points at the opening bell. The Nasdaq 100 tumbled 1.86% or 215 points pulled by tech stocks, with Facebook owner Meta Platforms sliding 7.15%. The S&P 500 lost 0.98%. The euro gained 0.14% against the dollar to sell for 1.07067 at 9:29 am ET.
