Fed's George announces retirement

President of Federal Reserve Bank of Kansas City, Esther George, announced on Wednesday she plans to retire in January next year after 40 years of service at the Kansas City Fed and more than 11 years at her current post.

"Under Esther's leadership, the Kansas City Fed has continued to deliver operational excellence across its mission areas of financial services and financial institution supervision, as well as maintain a strong commitment to public engagement," said María Griego-Raby, Chair of the Search Committee that has started looking for a potential candidate to become George's successor.
