NATO expansion on hold until security concerns met - Turkey

Turkish President Tayyip Recep Erdogan's spokesman Ibrahim Kalin stated on Wednesday, after the meeting with Swedish and Finnish delegations in Ankara, that their process of accession into NATO will be stalled until the country's security concerns are met "with concrete steps."

"The most important issue of this alliance is to meet the security of allies equally and fairly," stated Kalin adding that Turkey's concerns "are related to the presence of terrorist organizations, especially in European countries."

The spokesperson underscored that the country's "expectations are very concrete" and that "terrorist organizations such as YPG/PYD and FETO are not a situation that we can postpone for Turkey."
