Draghi, Zelensky discuss Ukraine situation

Italian Prime Minister Mario Draghi and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky spoke over the phone on Friday and discussed the latest developments in Ukraine, with particular focus on its eastern regions, the Italian government said in a statement.

Draghi reiterated that Ukraine can count on Italy's support in the conflict, in coordination with the rest of the European Union. The Italian prime minister and Zelensky also reflected on the current food crisis and the possibility of unblocking Ukraine's grain exports in Black Sea ports.

The Ukrainian president thanked Draghi and expressed his appreciation for all the efforts of the Italian government regarding the Ukrainian crisis. After a phone call with Russian President Vladimir Putin on Thursday, the Italian PM stated he sees "no hope of peace" for Ukraine.
