Putin conditions Ukraine's grain flow with sanctions relief

Russian President Vladimir Putin on Sunday seemingly offered to allow Ukraine to resume its shipments of grain through ports in the Black Sea in exchange for sanctions against Moscow to be relaxed, according to the Kremlin.

In a phone conversation with French President Emmanuel Macron and German Chancellor Olaf Scholz, Putin said he is willing to "help find options for the unhindered export of grain." "An increase in the supply of Russian fertilizers and agricultural products will also help reduce tensions on the global food market, which, of course, will require the removal of the relevant sanctions," the Kremlin cited Putin as saying.

The talks come as British Prime Minister Boris Johnson made a promise to Kiev to coordinate with his G7 partners in order to get Moscow to lift the blockade.
