US markets open lower amid data

Major stock markets in the United States traded lower at the open on Tuesday amid the release of data reports. The prices of houses in the country saw an annual increase of 20.6%. The investors are still waiting for the consumer confidence report to be released.

The Dow Jones fell 0.70% or 240 points at the open, as Intel declined 1.50% at 9:30 am ET. The S&P 500 was down 0.45% at 9:31 am ET, with Constellation Energy losing 3.69% at the same time. The Nasdaq 100 lost 0.07% at the opening bell, with Splunk declining 2.57% at 9:31 am ET.

All three indexes plunged even further not long after the open, with Dow Jones nosediving 1.38% or 455 points at 9:45 am ET. A minute later, the Nasdaq and S&P 500 decreased 1.02% and 1.13% respectively. The euro traded 0.62% lower against the dollar at 9:30 am ET, selling for 1.07133.
