Amazon criticizes new antitrust legislation Inc. published a statement on Wednesday regarding the antitrust bill proposed by Congress, meant to prevent tech giants from giving their own business preferential treatment, claiming it is unfairly singled out as these regulations are not applicable to its rivals.

According to the announcement posted on the retail giant's official website, the proposed bill could harm hundreds of small businesses that sell goods on its website and it "jeopardizes two of the things American consumers love most about Amazon: the vast selection and low prices made possible by opening our store to third-party selling partners, and the promise of fast, free shipping through Amazon Prime."

Earlier this month, a source from the Democratic party revealed that the antitrust bill could be voted on by the United States Senate by this summer.
