Europe closes lower on data reports

European stock exchanges closed lower on Tuesday, after data reports. The United Kingdom Services PMI Business Activity Index continued to decrease in May, while the Eurozone investor confidence recorded a slight recovery in June. Meanwhile, World Bank Group cut global growth prediction for 2022, warning that recession will be hard to avoid for many countries.

The DAX lost 0.66% at the closing bell, with Zalando SE pulling the index down by 4.48%. The FTSE 100 dropped to 0.12% as Jd Sports Fashion Plc nosedived 4.22%, while the CAC 40 fell by 0.74% with Orange SA decreasing 3.40%.

The euro went flat against the dollar, selling for $1.06953 at 5:30 pm CET. In comparison, the pound edged up by 0.35% to go for $1.25770 at the same time.
