Asian stocks tumble after strong day on Wall Street

Major stock market indexes in Asia traded lower on Wednesday signaling that investors in the region remain unsure about the economic recovery, despite a more positive sentiment coming out of the US markets as market participants shrugged off the Federal Reserve's third and most aggressive post-pandemic rate hike.

In mainland China, the Shanghai Composite decreased by 0.59% at 5:23 am CET, with the Shenzhen Composite down by 0.65% a minute later. At 5:24 am CET, South Korea's Kospi Composite fell by 1.90%, Hong Kong's Hang Seng dropped by 1.23% and the dollar lost 0.35% against the yen to go for ¥136.1675. The Australian S&P 200 went down by 2.99% at 5:25 am CET and Japan's Nikkei 225 stood flat at 4:35 am CET.
