US opens higher with G7 summit in focus

United States stock exchanges traded higher at the open on Monday, as investors pay close attention to the Group of Seven (G7) summit. The Biden administration shared that G7 will be announcing new sanctions against Russia and will be supporting Ukraine as long as necessary.

On the data front, the US durable goods orders saw a monthly increase of 0.7% in May, while the country's pending home sales report is scheduled to be released later during the day. Moreover, Nike will be revealing its earnings for the fourth quarter today as well.

The Dow Jones was up 0.21% or 64 points at the open, as Caterpillar advanced 1.65% at 9:30 am ET. The S&P 500 gained 0.32% at 9:30 am ET, as Devon Energy jumped 1.80% simultaneously. The Nasdaq 100 increased 0.33% at the opening bell, with Atlassian adding 2.50% at the same time.

Despite opening higher, all three indexes turned to losses not long after, with Dow Jones falling 0.14%, S&P 500 losing 0.36% and Nasdaq 100 declining 0.72% at 9:46 am ET. The euro rose 0.22% against the dollar at 9:29 am ET, selling for 1.05824.
