Turkey, Sweden, Finland sign support agreement

Turkey signed the Memorandum of Understanding with Sweden and Finland on Tuesday at the NATO Summit held in Madrid, after voicing its concerns over Helsinki and Stockholm's accession to the alliance.

Under the auspices of Secretary-General Jens Stoltenberg, the memorandum was signed between Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and Swedish Prime Minister Magdalena Andersson, as well as her Finnish counterpart Pekka Haavistoand at the summit.

"The concrete steps for our accession to NATO will be agreed upon among NATO allies over the next two days, but that decision is now imminent," stated Finnish President Sauli Niinisto, adding that the bond will be further strengthened once the countries join the alliance, assuring that Helsinki will cooperate in fighting terrorism, as well as arms exports and transfers with the member states.
