Asia tumbles following Wall Street losses

Major stock markets in the Asia-Pacific region tumbled on Wednesday, following Wall Street's lead prompted by disappointing economic data, as the country's consumer confidence dropped below its projection, driving Japan's sentiment to slip by 2 points in comparison to May's figure.

The Nikkei 225 plunged by 0.91% or 250 points at 7:45 am CET. South Korea's Kospi dropped by 1.54% at the same time. Moreover, Australian S&P/ASX 200 fell by 0.80% at 7:46 am CET.

At the same time, Hong Kong's Hang Seng sank 430 points or 1.94%. The Shenzhen Composite dipped by 1.44% at 7:30 am CET, while the Shanghai Composite was down by 0.99% at 7:47 am CET.

The American dollar was flat against the Japanese yen, to change hands for ¥136.05200 at 7:48 am CET.
