French court finds Abdeslam guilty of 2015 attacks

A French court ruled on Wednesday that Salah Abdeslam, who was a member of the group behind the 2015 Paris terror attacks, is guilty of terrorism and murder and sentenced him to life in prison.

Salah was caught in Brussels in 2016 for his participation in the Paris attacks in which 130 people were killed and hundreds more injured. The Islamic State has claimed responsibility for the attacks in the French capital that targeted the national sports stadium, bars and the Bataclan concert hall. Ahead of today's verdict, Abdeslam said that he "made mistakes" but insisted he is "not a murder, not a killer."

Judge Jean-Louis Peries stated that the court found 19 of 20 defendants guilty of terrorism-related charges over the attacks.
