Asian stocks mixed after data from China, Japan

Equities on the Asian markets traded mixed on Thursday, with investors reacting to the economic data coming out of China and Japan.

Released by China's National Bureau of Statistics, the PMI for manufacturing disappointed investors' expectations despite landing in the expansionary territory in June, while Japan's industrial production marked a decrease from April to May, dropping by 7.2% over the month.

In mainland China, the Shanghai Composite increased by 0.77% at 4:38 am CET, with the Shenzhen Composite adding 1.16% a minute later. At 4:40 am CET, South Korea's Kospi went down by 0.73% as the Australian S&P/ASX 200 lost 0.84%. Hong Kong's Hang Seng went up by 0.12% at 4:41 am CET, Japan's Nikkei 225 lost 0.91% at 4:35 am CET and the dollar stood 0.03% higher against the yen, going for ¥136.6215 at 4:42 am CET.
