Belarus won't need to save on water, fuel like EU

Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko emphasized on Saturday that the country will not have to give up the heating in the winter, nor will it face food, fuel, and water shortages like the rest of the European Union.

Earlier, the German Federal Network Agency expressed concern about a total failure of Russian gas supplies, urging its citizens to conserve energy ahead of the Nord Stream 1 gas pipeline's upcoming regular maintenance. Klaus Muller, president of the federal agency, urged all households to have their gas boilers and radiators checked and adjusted as soon as possible, warning that the maintenance could reduce gas consumption by 15%.

Previously, German Economy Minister Robert Habeck declared phase two of the emergency gas plan, warning that if Russia completely shuts down the supply during the maintenance, additional measures will be taken.
