Europe closes mostly higher at week's start

Major stock market indexes in Europe closed mostly higher on Monday as the companies such as BP PLC, Harbour Energy PLC, and TotalEnergies SE collected significant gains during the session in response to the rising prices of natural gas and oil. Meanwhile, investor sentiment in the Eurozone saw its worst performance in two years in June, with the figure for Germany going to a record low, while the area's producer prices grew less than expected.

The DAX closed 0.31% lower as Vonovia SE sank by 4.95%. The FTSE 100 advanced by 0.89% at the closing, with Harbour Energy PLC soaring by 5.20%. The CAC 40 rose by 0.40% as TotalEnergies SE surged by 4.55%.

The euro stood flat against the dollar to sell for $1.04294 at 5:29 pm CET. A minute later, the pound sterling went up by 0.12% against the greenback to go for $1.21142.
