Ford US total annual sales surge by 31.5%

Ford Motor Company revealed on Tuesday that total annual sales of its vehicles surged by 31.5% in the United States while jumping by 12.9% in June, outperforming the industry, despite ongoing industry semiconductor chip and supply disruptions.

Ford electric vehicle sales increased 76.6% year on year, making a total of 4,353 for the month. The company's SUV sales soared by 35.3% over last year. F-Series sales increased by 26.3%, accounting for 37.9% of Ford's overall sales mix. Furthermore, total truck sales rose in June, when compared to the same period the year before, reaching 26.4%.

"Amid industry-wide supply constraints, Ford outperformed the industry driven by strong F-Series, Explorer, and new Expedition and Navigator SUV sales," said Vice President of Sales, Distribution and Trucks, Ford Blue Andrew Frick, adding "F-150 Lightning was America’s best-selling electric truck in June in its first full month of sales, while our overall electric vehicle sales were up 77 percent over last year."
