Macron wants JCPOA negotiations to succeed

French President Emmanuel Macron said on Tuesday he wished the negotiations on Iran's nuclear deal would lead to a successful outcome as soon as possible. The remarks came during the joint press conference with Israeli Prime Minister Yair Lapid, who made his first international trip abroad since he became a caretaker prime minister last week.

Lapid noted that the current situation with the Iran nuclear deal would lead to an arms race in the Middle East and could threaten world peace. Ahead of his trip to France, he also emphasized he would press the French president on the matter of JCPOA negotiations.

On the other side, Macron added Paris was determined to battle terrorism in Israel and contribute to stability and security in the region, arguing he agrees the Iran nuclear deal is not capable of completely limiting Tehran's destabilizing activities. Macron also expressed regret about Iran missing a good opportunity to sign the agreement at the last talks in Doha.
