More aides cancel support for Boris Johnson

British private parliamentary secretary Saqib Bhatti, Conservative member of parliament Jonathan Gullis, and Conservative Party Vice Chair Bim Alofami stepped down from their positions on Tuesday following the resignation of two major ministers in Boris Johnson's government.

The resignations follow the latest sexual scandal related to the former minister in charge of pastoral care for which Prime Minister Boris Johnson apologized minutes before the first two ministers decided to stand down. Gullis, who was known as Johnson's loyal supporter, said in his letter of resignation that the party has been paying more attention to reputation issues than to "delivering for the people of this country."

"Boris Johnson needs to go and he needs to go before summer recess," Andrew Bridgen, another Johnson critic, told Sky News today. Earlier this year, Johnson's government survived the no-confidence vote, gaining the support of 211 MPs as opposed to 148 that voted against him.
