Javid: Tories' reputation depends on regaining trust

Former British Health Secretary Sajid Javid delivered on Wednesday a speech about his resignation at the House of Commons, stressing that the Conservative Party's reputation now depends on regaining the public's trust as the nation "expects us all to maintain honesty and integrity."

Speaking about his professional relationship with Prime Minister Boris Johnson, Javid noted that in the past few months he had been balancing "balancing between loyalty and integrity" and concluded that "enough is enough" and that "I will never risk losing my integrity." The politician stressed that the numerous scandals the Tories have faced since the beginning of Johnson's tenure, most notably the partygate and the appointment of Chris Pincher, who was accused of sexual misconduct, as Government Deputy Chief Whip as the main reasons behind his resignation.

Earlier, during the Prime Minister's Questions (PMQs), Johnson rejected the calls to quit despite a series of resignations he has been facing in the past days as well as those for a new general election.
