Report: Johnson to face confidence vote today

British Prime Minister Boris Johnson could face a confidence vote as soon as Wednesday night, a mere month after 40% of his colleagues expressed their mistrust in him, the Guardian reported.

While Johnson is protected under the current rules, which do not allow another vote for a year, it is possible that the 1922 Committee could change the rules and allow the British Conservatives to elect a different leader. This comes after two of his senior ministers and several junior ones handed in their notices.

If the vote takes place and half of the parliamentary party indicates they wish to switch leaderships, the prime minister could be forced to resign.
