German industrial output up 0.2% in May

Industrial production in Germany increased 0.2% in May compared to the previous month on a seasonally adjusted basis, the country's Federal Statistical Office Destatis reported on Thursday. The increase was smaller than analysts had expected.

Excluding energy and construction, production in the Eurozone's largest economy climbed 0.6% compared to the previous month. Capital goods production jumped 2.2%, while consumer goods output was down 0.9% and intermediate goods output declined by 0.4%. Meanwhile, energy production dropped 5.8%, while production in construction rose 0.4%.

On an annual basis, the figure fell 1.5%, adjusted for price and calendar variations.
