Tories, opposition against Johnson as caretaker PM

United Kingdom political figures from both the ruling Conservative Party and the opposition said on Thursday that they are against naming Boris Johnson as the country's caretaker prime minister until his successor is elected in the fall.

"The idea that the Conservatives might make Boris Johnson caretaker for anything is frankly ludicrous. The man's never taken care of anything in his life," Ed Davey (pictured), the leader of the Liberal Democrats, wrote on Twitter.

Meanwhile, George Freeman, a Conservative who stepped down as science minister this morning, said that Johnson should "apologize" to Queen Elizabeth II and "advise her to call for" a different caretaker PM.
